Dr. Rodríguez has been interested in education and research activities. In the field of research, his interest focuses on multimodal systems, virtual reality systems (VR), embedded systems, study of the analysis and transfer of human skills and the application of technology in education. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the TECNUN engineering school of the University of Navarra (San Sebastian, Spain) and a master’s degree in Electronic Systems from the Tecnológico de Monterrey (Toluca, Mexico).

From 2004 to 2005 he was a research assistant in the Plasma Physics Laboratory of the National Institute of Nuclear Research (ININ, Mexico), where he designed and implemented a data acquisition system for the diagnosis of plasma by spectroscopy. After 2008 to 2011 he was a research assistant at the Center for Studies and Technical Research of Guipuzkoa (CEIT-IK4 in San Sebastián, Spain), where he participated in the European project SKILLS (http://www.skills-ip.eu/collaborating in the design and implementation of the prototype of the IMA-VR system (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8r21vRDTig), which is a demonstrator of a training system for industrial maintenance activities .(http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10494820.2013.815221)

Nowadays, Dr. Rodríguez is a member of the research group of the research group “Dynamics and Control Systems” of the Faculty of Engineering of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, UAEMex). In 2013, he participated in the “Plataforma de Robótica Educativa” project together with the company Krismar, which was supported by the PROINNOVA program. In 2014 he participated in the research project “Diseño e Implementación de Plataformas Tecnológicas para la Evaluación Cuantitativa del desempeño del paciente y su progreso en Terapia Física” funded by UAEMEX (registration key 3816/2014 / CI). The objective of this project was the design and implementation of two technological platforms that allow the quantitative evaluation of two useful variables to determine the diagnosis and the performance of the patient’s evolution throughout their physical therapy.

Some of his current projects are the following:

  • “Diseño y validación de una plataforma para la evaluación de los tiempos de reacción y respuesta de porteros de fútbol”

The project consists of the measurement of reaction time and response in its simple modalities, of recognition and choice, in front of visual and auditory stimuli in professional goalkeepers. In collaboration with the Faculty of Behavioral Sciences of the UAEMex.

  • “Diseño y validación de una plataforma para la detección de estrés académico en alumnos universitarios de nuevo ingreso”

The project aims to design and implement an electronic platform to diagnose academic stress. The proposed platform can be used as a support tool for diagnosing stress in students when the institutions do not have the specialized personnel to carry out this activity. With an initial diagnosis obtained with the platform, the academic institutions will be able to identify the students that are most likely to suffer academic stress and therefore take the necessary measures to provide timely support.

  • “Diseño y evaluación de estrategias de aprendizaje multimodal en el desarrollo de aplicaciones de M-learning”

This research project studies the cognitive skills involved during the learning process, speci fi cally going to study memory (ability to remember information) as a cognitive ability. The result of this work will establish the development guidelines that will allow the creators of software to base the selection of the type of interaction in the educational application in a way that favors learning considering the skills involved.
